The Fast Metabolism Diet App Reviews

What a waste

Save your $$ they are better alternatives in the App Store. Offers nothing ground breaking compared to the other diet apps

Looked good for 5 seconds

This looked really good for about 5 secs. Meal planning, shopping lists, activity and water tracking. However when you go set what date you want to "start" the diet then the application has no clue what today is. It pretty much makes the app unusable if every time you log in to track you have to go find what today really is.

This is a great app but needs an update....

This app is awesome, but I think it should allow you to put your own recipes in there and it tell you if its acceptable. Then it will also keep all your favorite recipes that fit into the plan!

Everything I Ever Wanted

I’ve wanted an app that functions like this FOREVER. Map out the whole week, each meal brings up only foods that are compliant with the phase you’re in so it makes it SO EASY. There’s literally nothing you have to remember. Just plan out the whole week, hit the “add items to shopping list” and OMG it gives you a LIST with every single thing on it that you’ll need for the week INCLUDING how much of each item you’ll need. So if I log that I’m going to eat chicken breast for 5 meals during the week, it’ll say 30 ounces chicken breast on the list. It’s kind of amazing. Then it just tells you what to eat each day, what’s next, and if you’re planning your meals too far apart or close together. Seriously, it’s the best app I’ve ever, ever had. I never even heard of the diet prior to the app. I found the app, then found the diet, then decided to do the diet just because I loved the app. I’m only on day 4 but I am so loving this. It feels SO EASY.

Love the Program. The app needs work!

The app isnt bad. It just needs some polish. First I like the way it sets up a grocery list but once youve gone to the store you have to delete each item one at a time manually. My grocery list for Phase 2 has about 80 items to delete! I bought the book. But the App offers recipes that arent in the book as meals. I accidentally picked one. And when we went to prepare it we had to go off the ingredient list and nothing else.

Great starting point

Love the set up of the app to provide you a way to layout your meal plan daily and weekly. Great reminder feature and grocery list. I like that the app will only show the foods you are allowed in each Phase. The planning and food list has made it easy for me to follow the plan. One suggestion. Have a feature to set up your default wake up times, and meal times (Mon-Fri, I wake at 4am and have to move my morning snack before my workout and breakfast after. At this time, I have to adjust each day).

Love it!

I honestly dont know if I could follow this diet without this app. Makes it very easy to keep track of what I can eat when. I dont think I could recommend the diet to someone without an iPhone. Love the reminders that its snack time or to drink water. Also love the water tracking. My only complaint is that I have to keep changing my wake up time and then adjust all my snack and meal times. Would be great if I could set my default times rather than adjusting them every day.

Vegetarian/ vegan options please!

Great tool to follow the FMD. However, as a vegetarian, Id love to see some of the recipes from the vegetarian/vegan cookbook!

Great but PLEASE FIX Phase 3 Fat Portions

This app is a wonderful "companion" for this diet. I love the fact that it counts you water intake. Its great that meal planing schedule is so flexible. It allows you to change time even after time has passed in case you have last minute interruptions. However in phase 3 the book says you can combine fats but app will only let you add one type of fat Please Fix.

Almost great app

Easy to use. Plan to use it even during maintenance days for inspiration. Veg Proteins are needed in meal planning lists so they will transfer to grocery list. Meals from book need to be checked against cookbook. Some in app are not in book. Its great to have serving size on meal plan & then groceries listed by recipe. Would be nice to be able to consolidate groceries though.

Be careful when choosing meals from book

Ive been using this app for over 2 1/2 years, and know the program inside and out. I have emailed errors to the app people, which are dismissed as not an error. After contacting the FMD group, one error was corrected in the 2.9.1 update. I will try to remedy a serious issue here by posting a review. There is still an issue with recipe choices, especially in Phase 3. It shows all recipes for that Phase, regardless of the foods that should be eaten at a particular meal. For example, no grains are allowed at lunch, yet you can choose a recipe (meals from book) that contains grain. If I werent that savvy with the program, it would have been easy to eat the wrong thing. Also, no fruit at Phase 1 dinner, yet you can choose a recipe with fruit. This is a serious problem! Please fix to only show appropriate meals/recipes for a particular meal or snack!!!! Otherwise, an invaluable help to following the program. Would like a setting to allow phase changes when following a 10 day cleanse or 7 day intensive. Or adjusting phases to allow for Thanksgiving etc to fall on Phase 3.

Adding to grocery list

Wondering if you could link your food list to the grocery list. Hard to go back and forth between the two to add to the grocery list. Kind of a pain.

Def need the app, but the app needs work!!

I would be lost on this plan without the app. With that said, the app needs some serious improvement. I almost feel I would be better off printing out the approved food lists and meal plans vs using the app due to some of the restrictions of the app. I really wish the recipes would actually take you to a recipe. Having to search through emails and the book and the website to find a recipe is really frustrating. Also, the app only lets you choose one type of a food that is required. For example, when you must select a fruit, you can only choose one. Same with fats. What if I want to use avocado AND oil?? I would like to be able to at least have the app show half and half. Again the app has been really helpful for the most part, but I find myself doing a lot more work in the long run.

Confusing an Ineffective

Read the book and bought the app. The most complicated and confusing thing Ive ever tried. No weight lost and a huge headache gained. Avoid this mess and use your common sense to lose weight by cutting back on carbs and getting off your butt.

Awful

I am on second week and only show a 1.5 lb loss which is probably fluid. So got app to help. It is too controlling on so many levels. I dont need it to tell me what time to eat my snacks and meals. I want to document it myself. I find it tedious and not user friendly. This diet is just a version of the Adkins diet-putting yourself into mild ketoacidosis to speed wt loss. Not natural. However, probably cant hurt for minimal weight loss. I dont have time for the recipes but I have stuck to it for 10 days now. Not seeing results yet.

Disappointed

I originally got the app to use while on the go but the portion sizes are not correct for anyone needing to lose more than 20 pounds. Also I am disappointed that the only recipes on the app are the few in the book. If I do a recipe out of the fmd cookbook I have to individually enter it in. I also wish there was a way to add recipes so when I use other recipes its easier to input. For having to pay for the app Im disappointed it doesnt include more.

This app lacks a lot.

I find the app is useless. I only use it to find what foods and the amounts that I am allowed to use for a particular meal. But getting this information is very awkward. Im working on just making a list of them for each phase. Then I dont have to use the app at all. I have both the FMD book and the cookbook. But not all of the recipes are in the app. If you click on a recipe and then go to the grocery app The food is not arranged by category if its part of a recipe. Too confusing to use as a grocery list at the store. Despite the fact that I have digital copies of both the book and the cookbook on my phone there is no way to link the recipe on the app to the actual recipe. Its very awkward to go back-and-forth between the app and the cookbook. The food list is missing many allowable foods. For example spaghetti squash. Very rarely do I need for tablespoons and a half of olive oil for a recipe. But the app does not allow me to divide my oils with different foods. For example, One half portion of oil and one half portion of avocado. I have to look up the portions for both of them and then do the math myself as to how much of each one I need to use. But then I can only record one of them in my food plan. It does not allow me to create my own recipes and then save them. Which many other diet apps do allow.

Useful but...

I use this app as a guide for the diet and it is helpful BUT the food lists are not complete and Pomroy is very careful to make sure you pay for any in depth features. So even though the food lists (most vital part of the diet) apparently cant be included in an update, ads for more books can now pop up. This diet works well for me but be aware that it is expensive overall.

Colorblind unfriendly

I bought the app and opened it only to immediately see everything coded in colored squares. How about a colored triangle, circle and square with the shape corresponding to the associated color/phase instead.

Need better grocery list

It would be nice to be able to have a consolidated list by ingredient rather than a dozen recipes of ingredients. That is only helpful in taking those ingredients to then make a list, it is not a list you can use to shop. Additionally, it would be nice to be able to adjust recipe ingredients by serving. I am also bummed that the recipes are not on the app or at least another add on....it is not helpful to have to go between my phone and the cookbook. It would be great with a few tweaks to make it user helpful, as the plan is already complicated.
